Tony

Known Since: About 1998

Resides In: San Diego

Tony's a part of my San Diego fab four. I met him through Russ, and they had met (if I recall correctly) at the dog park near where both of them live. Both being dog guys, being in the same business, and both being big nerds, they got along fabulously.

So once Aaron and I moved to San Diego, many of our weekends ended up being spent hanging out up at Russ's place. Tony, living nearby, would often walk over with his dog Angel to join us for cigars and chat on the back patio. And this just started becoming the norm, as four guys so in synch on their choice of movies and TV would never run out of things talk about. Our group bonded most, however, over the show Firefly that we all discovered together. For the all-too-brief time that it was on the air, it became a Friday night ritual for all of us to end up at Russ's, sing along with the theme song, and watch the show we all loved before Fox so cruelly ripped it away from us. Firefly or no, this has never stopped our gatherings, which usually consist of Aaron, Russ and I getting together, and then calling to see if Tony has an opening in his schedule of being a husband, father, and seemingly 24/7 employee of Apple to drop and join us.

Tony is, as far as I can tell, the world's leading authority on all things Apple and Mac. A tech jock and dog lover, Tony is the father of two great kids that he always has new stories about, and husband to Wendy, whom I also get to enjoy hanging out with from time to time. He and I share a lot of the same interests as far as where our entertainment loyalties go, including the aforementioned Firefly (as well as all Joss Whedon shows) and most especially Star Wars. We're such die hards that we're about the only ones left we know that still hold out hope for Lucas when everyone else has given up on him and the franchise. Tony is a very patient and easy-going individual who takes people and life as they come. Both driven and always optimistic, Tony's one of those rare folks that genuinely seems happy with every part of his life, from family to work, and seems to be able to balance them all in a way that keeps him quite content. Positive, together guys like Tony are just the kind of folks we should all be so lucky to have around. You'd do well to meet him. Just make sure you don't make any jokes about Firefly around him. He still has issues...

Random Me and Tony Memory: What else, dude? Us waiting all those hours (you more than me) for the midnight opening showing of Attack of the Clones.
