Summer

Known Since: 1999 (about there)

Resides In: San Diego, CA

I had been working in the D.H. department of GEICO long enough to be considered "the veteran" when Summer first showed up. She didn't stay a rookie for long. Kind of ran the department pretty soon after, it seemed. We were in the same unit in that madhouse, which turned out to be a really fun unit. I'd say we were pretty close to instant friends.

Summer is one of those people you meet in life that just seems like a fictional character. Way too cool to exist in your world, you know? She's hands-down one of the coolest people I've known, and I mean that on a lot of levels. First, she's well-known in the San Diego social circles. Be it clubbing, parties (of which she throws the best, as I found out first hand (along with those guys in the six cop cars...)), or hanging out backstage with well-known bands that she is, of course, pals with. And she surfs, making her the ultimate San Diego girl, as well as snowboarding like a demon, and doing so all over the world, being the globe-hopper she is. Now you put all those things together and you might think, "Inaccessible". Nothing could be further from the truth, which is the real coolness behind Summer. She is who she is, and accepts others as they are, no questions asked. She gets along with pretty much everyone on the planet (something I think she's actually trying to verify...) and instantly becomes one of the favorite people each of those people knows.

The best part about Summer, what makes her so great to be around, is that she GETS LIFE. She does not let things happen to her. She makes things happen. Whether it's her band ("Bikini"), her burgeoning online clothing empire (viciousenterprises.com and hustlerpanties.com), or those adventures to Costa Rica, Summer makes the most of every opportunity and everything life has to offer (or in her case, to be taken), never letting anything get her down or stand in her way. An amazing person and an amazing friend, I'll always remember her as one of the highlights of my years in San Diego. I don't think I'll have a choice, because I keep having this feeling that down the road, I'm going to be seeing her on TV and in magazines all the time.

Random Me and Summer Memory: Three words, baby: "Que Pasa, Foo'?!".
