SAN DIEGO "SERENITY"
PREMIERE
(09/30/05)
Sure, Tony and I made
it to the big world premiere of Serenity in Hollywood the week before
it opened nationwide. But that was a last-minute surprise. Long before
this, when we first heard about the movie coming out, the four of us that
started watching Firefly together swore we would all be there together
on opening day in San Diego. Couldn't let that promise go. So I flew down
from Sacramento, Aaron flew further down from Seattle, and we hooked up
with Tony and Russ for the first showing on Friday, saw it again that
night, and snuck in one more showing on Sunday. Mission accomplished.
And a good excuse to get the old Friday Night Browncoat gang together
for a weekend of hanging, relaxing and tossing back a few at Russ's place.

Russ points at our
favorite theater in San Diego...where we're about to go see the
first showing of Serenity on opening day! After drinks and appetizers
at Islands, of course... |
|
Tony, Russ and Aaron check out
the menu and soak up the expectation. And Tony tries not to be too
smug about the fact that he's already seen the film. Heh heh. |
|
The Friday Night Browncoat Boys
come full circle, from watching Firefly together every Friday night
at Russ's to finally seeing the big screen version come to life. |
|
After after the experience,
it was back to Russ's for more drinks, some cigars, and lots of
Serenity analysis |
|
And look...seconds later we're
doing the exact same thing. We live with THAT kind of devotion |

Yes, Wile E. was a little bitter
that he didn't get to go to the movie. He's going to have to wait
for DVD. And higher brain function, of course. But he's fully capable
of enjoying Rob Schneider films right now... |

Anna and Wile E., hanging out |

And they're still hanging out |
|
Pretty much the same |

Hey, market research shows us
that shots of dogs sell product, damnit, so deal with it |
|
It was here that Russ first
got the notion to blow up the house next door. Two days later? Nothing
but rubble, ashes and shattered dreams... |
