Jon

Known Since: 1986

Resides In: Sacramento, CA

Talk about your Old School Mission Park! He's an O.G.! I met Jon through Kevin. Back then, I had just started college (good old American River College), and Jon had just graduated high school and was just starting like me. Couple of freshmen yokels. Both with the gang and just with us, we started hanging out a lot. There was a brief period the following year when the rest of the gang graduated and started going to A.R.C., but that didn't last too long. Soon it was just us, kicking it in classes (when we weren't ditching to go see movies or play video games), cruising around in Jon's famous Pinto playing Poison or Kiss on the tape deck, going to concerts at Cal Expo, or doing something weird like deciding to go Tahoe for a pizza.

Man, we had some crazy times. And a mutual obsession with bad cable and didn't-even-make-it-to-cable movies (remember "Psychos In Love", dude? Grapes?! I hate grapes!). Jon's done most jobs you can think of in his time, ranging all the way from waiting tables to movie theater guy to radio station engineer (he's got a degree in broadcasting) to record store guy to tech support to limo driver. Jon gets around. But he's always looking beyond all that. Jon's always the man looking for that new opportunity, an entrepreneur at heart. He's been successful in both web mastering and, most recently, his own limo business. You never know what's in the cards next with Jon. Possessing a deeply bent sense of humor, an unnatural love for the Raiders (any love for the Raiders is unnatural!!), and an eye for the angle ("If there's a scam that's been invented," Jon says, "I'm on it."), Jon's a dreamer, and a visionary, and, most of all, a good friend.

Random Me and Jon Memory: Remember that night we got drunk and ended up in the park with the label maker and we labeled everything in the park ("Tree", "Bench", "Trash Can") and then ended up knocking on that girl's (Dee, was it?) apartment door at dawn, guaranteeing she'd never speak to you again? But we can laugh about it now, right? Right? Geez, I hope that Dee thing wasn't my idea...

So how is this for every limo driver's dream? Jon ends up driving this group of hot girls to a concert, and then he actually ends up dating one of them? And they're together, for, like, years after that? Come on, that doesn't really happen, does it? Well, it did in this case. Jon and Kristen have been together for a long time now. I met her for the first time when I was back from Arizona visiting Sac for a weekend. Kristen's a great girl who obviously has a lot of heart and patience to have dealt with all of Jon's friends all this time. She was a regular at our La Casa parties back in the day, and always a pleasure to have around. And I'm an even bigger fan of hers because she's made a friend of mine very happy.

Random Me and Kristen Memory: Ooh, remember when I invented the terrible game show for the Time Travel party and you were forced to be a contestant in it? Have I ever apologized for that?
