Cindy
Known Since: 1986ish Resides In: Alexandria, VA When I met Cindy, I simply knew her as Kevin's little sister. She was still a little too young then to be hanging out with us late night drinking guys (and gosh, she missed SO much because of this...), but she was usually around during the day, and was always there to direct some applause-inducing sarcasm at one of the group (usually Jon, her favorite target). Time passed and the age difference didn't matter anymore, and we started hanging out more. Cindy was a film freak, and so was I, so we'd talk a lot about films and occasionally go see one, like catching the on-campus showing of Blue Velvet at American River College or seeing Henry V. We definitely shared an obsession with Twin Peaks, and she was part of our regular weekly viewing group at my house (how did we ever fit all those people in my room like that?). Cindy's artistic side started blossoming into serious talent, both in the areas of photography and acting. I remembering watching one of her plays on stage and just being amazed at the presence she brought. Though theater was a big thing for her, photography seemed to be her true calling. The more I saw of her work, the more I wondered what the heck she was doing staying in Sacramento, when she should be in L.A. or New York or somewhere. She finally did up and leave, relocating to New York, and is currently living in Virginia. As you can see in Cindy's photography work, she's fascinated by life, and most especially people. She's always looking for new experiences, new people to meet. While I think she could really care less about it, I still believe Cindy's going to be quite big one day, and you're going to say you read about her here first. I look forward to annoying people at her gallery showings going "No, seriously, I know her. I had her copy of "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" forever! Really!" Random Me and Cindy Memory: Hey, you were the first one to see my tattoo, weren't you? That's right. You came over and woke me up the day after, when I took the bandage off. You also took the first photo of it. Please check out Cindy's work, FYI, at:
