SACRAMENTO APARTMENT PHOTOS

(Summer '04)

Well, I promised some folks some photos of my new apartment in Sacramento. Been here over 3 months now, so I guessed it was about time to take some and post them up. Check out Stately Mike Manor by clicking on any of the thumbnails below to see the bigger picture...then use your browser's "back" button to get back here. Just...that...easy.

And here we begin outside, checking out a view of my patio. Inviting, isn't it?
Another view of the patio, head on this time. In case of emergencies I can scramble up that tree and knock on my upstairs neighbor's window. Handy.
Let's approach the front door and see if I'm home, shall we? That's my apartment on the right--not the girly one on the left. That's Laura's. Mine is spartan and MUCH more manly!
And when you open my front door, you see this. Little coat closet there, next to some family photos.
And here's my living room, viewed from the entryway. You can see the door there that opens out onto the patio. And of course the handy laptop is always there. One of 3 computers I have running in here.
In case you didn't see the posters above the couch clearly.
And if you turn a little to the left from the entryway, you can see the door into the bedroom area, the dining area, and the Kings Wet Bar (more on that in a bit). Note the Desperado mini poster.
A better shot of the dining area. Note the ultra-comfy recliner. You should try it.
Just another shot of the couch and chair area.
A different angle shows the kitchen as well, and computer #2.
Turning a little shows us the entryway, and the beginnings of the entertainment area. Please forgive the hanging phone cord that runs to the TiVo. I've been meaning to get that secured better.
This shot shows you the entertainment area proper, as well as the fireplace.
A different angle on the entertainment area...one not quite so dark.
Here's the fireplace area. The fireplace might actually get use this year, if I'm remembering my Sacramento winters properly.
A little closer shot of the mantle shows my pride and joy--my framed panoramic photo over Dublin. No, not Dublin, CA! Dublin, Ireland, fool!
Mmmm. DVD goodness.
Another shot of computer #2. This is the one for guests to use. I really hate where it's at. I'm getting a computer stand soon and putting it next to the fridge, I think.
Hey, it's my kitchen! Notice it's extra wide for easy wheelchair access? Much of the apartment is like that.
Tighter shot of the kitchen. Note the coffee machine there in the home of a guy who can't drink coffee. All for you, house guests. I dig the "Out of Sight" mini poster.
A view from the kitchen, looking back toward the bar. Hey, let's check that out, shall we?
Once I found out I had a wet bar in the place, I decided to give it a Kings theme. Various beverages there for my rowdier guests.
Let's take a closer look. Here you can see the Doug Christie miniball, as well as the Chris Webber Pinewood Derby car. Also my shotglass collection.
The other side shows us the Kings Playoff pennant from 2001 (I got that at a playoff game), a pic of me and the boys at the game, a Kings Coke bottle, and a stuffed Bobby Jackson and Scott Pollard bobblehead.
A shot of the posters in the dining area. Nothing cheers up a dinner party like senseless violence, I think.
Let's take a walk into the bedroom area. Hey, who left my closet open? Note the big walk-in action, there. Pretty sweet.
I've gotten the closet customized to accommodate me better. Got the low bars for clothes to hang. Also got a few stackable drawer sets to keep all my crap off the floor. There's no room for it because of the OTHER crap on the floor...
Of COURSE that wasn't my whole media collection in the living room. Are you kidding? Had to get a bookshelf for the closet to keep all the excess video. Note that the rows of video are two deep.
Coming out of the closet (as it were), we look right and can see into my bedroom. You can see the sliding door that goes out to the patio. And my desk. The bedroom, I should note, is still a work in progress. More organizing and setup to be done here.
And look ...there's a bed in the bedroom, too. Seemed appropriate.
Another shot looking into the bedroom.
World's most comfortable bed. At least in my opinion. It's the egg crate that makes the magic happen.
At end of the bed you'll find my armoire and bookcases.
And above the armoire, the poster for Heat. Get yours on DVD today. A Michael Mann film. Rated R.
Just another shot of the bookcase area. Reading is fun, and mental.
Here's the view from the bed, with the Ikea desk known as "the JERKER" (you have to say it that way, too), holding computer #3. Also, there's a handy swivel shelf there for my TV. Cool.
Another shot of the JERKER! That's a lot of cords. Fire hazard, anyone?
Another angle, getting the corner. Fun photos in those frames. Sorry I didn't get a closeup for you. You'll have to come visit to check them out I guess.
Just had to include this shot because I took it hanging upside down off the bed. I've woken up to this angle more than a few times in my life...
The computer where all the Nice Guy magic happens. Unless it's nice outside and I'm working on the laptop, that is.
A view from the bed back toward the dining area. Hey, that looks like a vanity area back there, doesn't it?
Sure seems to be a vanity. Maybe we should get closer and make sure.
Yep, I was right. It's a vanity. The place where all my beauty secrets are revealed.
And just to the right of it, the bathroom. One with a door wide enough to actually allow a wheelchair into, I should add. What a concept.
Tall shot of the bathroom. Don't mind the bathing suit hanging on the rack there. I'll put that away later. Yes, that's a "Two Towers" poster above the throne. Yes, I'm a nerd! Screw you!
A view from...well, if you're sitting down. You know, in there. Mini posters adorn the vanity area, too.
I mentioned this door in the living room that goes out to the patio. Let's take a look out, shall we?
Here's the handy lounge area for all my smoking friends (or the writing area if it's a nice night out). It's quite peaceful out here. Note the mini BBQ in the corner. That's my friend Ken's. He can't BBQ at his apartment so he left it here. Gotten lots of use, courtesy of Chef Ken.
That's the pool out there, by the way. My patio's right in front of it. Thankfully, not a busy pool, so it's a rare thing to hear splashing, screaming children.
Just a shot of all the complex's trees. Makes a very nice sound out there when the wind's blowing through them. Told you it was peaceful.
If you look right from the patio, this is what you see.
Here's the view out my front door. There really are a lot of trees in this town, aren't there?
And if you look close, you can see my dirty brown van parked in my spot down there. Couldn't have this much closer handicapped parking spot, could I? NO, that's OFFICE parking. Not bitter...
Another shot of my patio.
A shot of the pool. I've been known to do a few laps in it from time to time.
And finally, just a pic down the walkway in front of my apartment. There's a handy liquor store down there over that little wall. Great for all your late-night Sprite needs.
